Tending the Flame is an annual summer outreach conference that includes events for the whole family.
SED District Youth Event at Tending the Flame Teen Program is packed with fun, fellowship & music. This event is for Jr. and Senior High youth. In the beautiful setting of the North Carolina mountains, college servants will share the Hope of Christ through service, fellowship, and worship in intentional Christian community. Bringing Hope to the High Country 2 - Camp Linn Haven, Linville NC July 23- July 29, 2017
In the beautiful setting of the North Carolina mountains, youth servants will share the hope of Christ through a strenuous week of growing as disciples and serving others through: 1)working with Habitat for Humanity with the construction of homes; 2)sharing the Gospel by leading Vacation Bible School with children and youth from a residential school for neglected children; and 3)sharing a picnic and field day with developmentally disabled adults. Base camp is Camp Linn Haven in Linville, NC. While this event focuses on high school students, college students are welcome to serve in mentoring relationships. This week is designed to be physically, mentally, and spiritually challenging. Riches in Richmond VA - Trinity Lutheran Church, Richmond VA: June 17 - 24, 2017
Project:HOMES will screen applicants and selects projects specifically for this event. There is an extensive list of over 500 clients waiting for volunteers to serve them. It is mostly housing repair and accessibility improvements for low income/elderly female clients. Participants will also plan and execute a dinner/dance for developmentally disabled adults. Registration includes a fun day on Wednesday with a trip to Williamsburg and Water Country. Work boots are required for all participants.

Western North Carolina Servant Event - Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Asheville NC: July 8 - July 19, 2017
Serve Appalachian families in need by performing various construction tasks including general home repair, painting and digging new septic tank systems. This event not only includes working with Appalachian families on their homes, but allows interaction with this culture and the opportunity to witness the Words of Christ.
