Ablaze! Outreach Grant Application
What is
an Ablaze!
Outreach Grant?
The
opportunity to begin a new outreach ministry can be a transforming event for
the congregation. Sometimes, start-up funds to enable this are necessary. The Ablaze! Outreach Grant is a one-time grant
award to provide assistance to a congregation desiring to begin such an effort.
Examples of how these funds have been used are to provide a stipend for an
ethnic worker who is enrolled in the EIIT program, assistance for teachers
leading ESL classes, and assisting with a director for a pre-school program
start-up. They are designed to jumpstart something new that reaches a new
audience with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Key in the evaluation of awarding
grants will be the ability of the congregation to sustain the project after the
first year.
Planning
Narrative
The Southeastern District requests
that your congregation submit as a part of the application a Planning Narrative
so the District can better understand this new mission effort. This form will provide information
about your mission and ministry goals and activities and will serve as the
basis or rationale for receiving a grant in 2008. Information from the Planning
Narrative may be used in publications as the SED tells the story of mission and
ministry needs within the Southeastern District.
Financial
and Statistical Information for Requesting a Mission and Ministry Grant
This document provides the SED with the information
needed to understand how the congregation will continue this work after the
year of funding and how Ablaze! goals will be impacted.
To complete the document you should work through the
costs of this program, especially looking at impact of start-up costs,
congregational support, and additional financial support/grants/loans.
Expectations
Each recipient is expected to complete a Grant report
in March, June, and September of the year of the grant. The purpose of the
report is to provide information that will help in sharing the story of
outreach with District congregations.
*The SED will make copies from
your original for forwarding to your regional facilitator, circuit counselor
and mission and ministry representative.
